Torch is the closest thing you have to Reverend Jim, so I think it’s a fine choice.
That’s about the furthest away from what I thought it was going to be…but still cool that you are buying cars and making stories!
Omg if you all are going to electrify it and add Open Pilot to make an actual self driving taxi that has actual..you know taxi room, I might just renew at vinyl next year…
I guarantee it will be less comfortable to sleep in than the Aztek.
Next time, you need to do a cereal box with “Oops all cars” for the hero image
Hell yeahhhhhhhhh! I’m real weird, and love the NV200! So many possibilities! And van!
Oh, it’s in Newburgh. Sorry Matt, looks like you have to go to Newburgh. Often times the murder capital of NYS!
After what ya’ll did to the the Scion xB, I fear this cab’s worst days are yet to come. Which is saying something.
Is it legal in California, I mean can you register it? Or is it going to a less stringent home? Say, SC/NC area?
Why would a bone stock 10 year old vehicle not be legal in CA?
Because if it has a billion miles on it, it may not pass smog/emissions inspection.
And if the taxi mechanics took shortcuts, it might fail the CA inspection anyway.
Not sure that’s what the comment’s intention was. A worn out car with a billion miles purchased in California has just as much chance of failing smog as one purchased from out of state.
I interpreted the comment as him thinking there is some sort of restriction on bringing out of state vehicles into CA, which is not the case with used vehicles (but is the case with NEW vehicles).
I call dibs on it when we’re done doing…uh…whatever with it. Gambler 500 taxi, baby!
finally, fake taxi content that’s safe for work!
That’s what you think.
Random Person (hails cab): Airport, please!
Torch & David: Surprise! You’re in The Autopian Cab! We just got this thing running and we’re going to see how it survives the toughest trail at Moab!
Random Person: I really need to get to the airport…
Jason: Let me tell you about this taillights on this baby!
They end up in Mercedes barn with her car collection, and that’s how the horror movie ends lol
And Torch sitting frozen in the entrance like Jack Nicholson.
I was going to say a picture on the wall of the barn showing it in the late ’70s, with Adrian standing in the middle.
“I’m not driving him to the airport!”
According to the listing:
Odometer: 0 Not Actual
Primary Damage: Front End
Secondary Damage: Side
…
Special Note: There are no Notes for this Lot
See? 10/10, no notes. Perfect! 😀
Before you do anything to it, have a CSI team collect ‘evidence’.
We want to be horrified by all the substances found in a taxi.
Here’s my issue. Most people will not know that is a cab, despite the yellow color and the giant ‘T’. It’s just an ugly minivan to populations outside NYC.
I guess we gotta fix that then!
The Autopivan!
Does this mean there’s an Autopian version of Taxicab Confessions on the way?
Yes
If you answer wrong, the rest of the journey will be in a Juke. 🙂
I’m tremendously disappointed this isn’t the Mercedesamino.
We got soooooo close to buying that, but it went for a healthy price to someone who seems like they must have had a specific plan for it. Also, that car was so close to ideal it didn’t feel like there was a lot to do with it.
Dang!
On the one hand, I’d much rather it be a Checker or London cab, or even a doily-covered Japanese Crown. On the other hand, a beat to shit version of a generally unloved NV200 is a very Autopian choice.
I agree a Checker would be interesting but this fits the bill.
Yeah, at first I was like “You bought an old Crown Vic?! Great, but that’s hardly even in the ballpark of a questionable/quirky choice….”
Ain’t gonna lie, I was really hoping it was a Checker as I was reading the article.
My first thought was a Marathon as well.
The Taxi theme song started playing in my head.
Love the NVs!! We need more of those (but better made) and less boring ass Rav4s.
Could this be the long anticipated Autopian RV?
That’s what I was thinking too.
NGL, I am sad, I was hoping you would buy the NASH. 🙁
We did bid, but it’s just a little too nice for our plans.
As long as you tried. The Nash was certainly my favorite, but if you guys have intentions of doing some mods (either intentionally or by reckless abandon) then I’m glad you picked something more replaceable.
That was my ultimate thought. There are few of those Nash’s left and that one seemed like in great condition. It deserves to be restored, not playfully modified.
(◔ૂ◔) “Hmmm…. I bet they’re going to trash the Nissan, big time
https://www.copart.com/lot/71632794/clean-title-1949-nash-airflyte-ca-adelanto
Did you say that you bid? It’s currently at $300.00
They didn’t accept our bid (too low) and it got reposted.
Is there really such a thing as a “too low” bid for a 10 year old salvage title beat to shit NV200 taxi from NYC?
Out of all the possibilities, a Nissan NV2000 certainly is one of them. Not one I would have chosen—but you people are a fun kind of crazy, so I’m looking forward to seeing what becomes of it
Thank you for informing the non-paying part of the Autopian population, of the upcoming automobile.
Tossabl’s comment is what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.
If you’d like to read this post and get a sneak preview of our next car you should
become a member of The Autopianscroll down a little.Haha, wait non-members can see the comment sections of member-only posts?
Correct. I discovered this before becoming a member too.
Torch Cab > Cash Cab
It’s just a series of ‘Would You Rathers’ sprung on unsuspecting randos in Gary, Indiana.
Probably best to bypass Gary.
Weird, I was just looking up things about Bowling Green, KY earlier today because I’m going there in 2 weeks and I randomly saw on Wikipedia that Ben Bailey is from there.
