One of the biggest outdoor car shows I’ve ever attended was Porsche Cars & Coffee, which is held each month. There were probably at least a thousand people, there was a sea of amazing cars, and overhead was a freaking helicopter circling the joint. This show was put on by Porsche Santa Clarita — a single store in the Galpin network. Now imagine if every store in the Galpin network, along with The Autopian, came together to create the ULTIMATE CAR SHOW. Well, that’s happening really soon: on October 15. This Sunday. And there’s going be an original Dodge Viper pilot car and a Ford GT40 MKIII), and so much more. Check it out.
The cars at the Galpin Car Show — which is taking place this Sunday (October 15) at 15505 Roscoe Blvd, North Hills, CA, 91343 (the show starts at 9AM, but I’d show up at 8)— are going to be incredible. Not only will they include hyper-rare gems from Autopian cofounder Beau Boeckmann’s collection, but they’ll also include rides from other private collectors around LA and even some rare metal from The Petersen Automotive Museum. Plus, I have the list of cars spectators customers/friends/the public is bringing to the show, and it’s also deeply impressive.
Among the gems in attendance, there will be one of the early Dodge Viper pilot cars, courtesy of the Petersen Automotive Collection:
Also from the Petersen will be a 1967 Ford GT40 MKIII:
From the James Hetfield Collection will be the Lincoln Zephyr “Voodoo Priest” — an absolute stunner:

If you plan to be there, register your car and learn more about the show here.
Expect thousands of folks this Sunday; come hang out with The Autopian crew on the northeast corner of Orion and Roscoe. You’ll see our banner and a bunch of microcars.
The initial layout is shown in the map above; click the link just before that map on the day of the show to get an updated map with spectator parking (or just look out for signs when you arrive).
HAVING FUN WITHOUT ME AGAIN I SEE.
Wish I could make it. My clutch is acting up and my buddy who I’d normally go with is having a kid in four days so he understandably doesn’t want to risk being an hour away if his wife goes into labor.
I wish I could join you all. Being in Tucson, it’s close enough to be viable, but far enough that it just isn’t practical this weekend. If y’all have a party for the 2nd anniversary, though, I’m there.
Nice, there’s a ’64 Galaxie 500 on the list!!
Yo, that Lincoln is the Chef’s kiss. My god, why can’t we have these driving around.
PleezpleezPLEEZ post lots of pictures.
This sounds like a good time, especially as someone who will be stuck out here on the windswept plains. I’d come just to see that MkIII in person!
With that out of the way, I’d like to take the opportunity to address a personal pet-peeve. Specifically, can we please eradicate any and all references to car dealerships as “stores?” It’s a cringey bit of jargon that has always struck me as a subtle-but-obvious tactic by car salesmen to avoid using the “d-word” and downplay the negative connotations that come with it. It belongs squarely in the realm of the skeezy, know-nothing d-bags who sit around outside the showroom awaiting the next
customervictim, not in pieces penned by auto journalists. And yes, I realize that Beau is dealer, and that the Galpin network might be “one of the good ones.” But for the sake of maintaining journalistic integrity, can you stick with calling dealerships what they are?
I know. Probably a weird hill to die on.
And what do you think a dealership is but a store for cars? I feel like this is an unimportant distinction that doesn’t need to exist. A dealership is just a subcategory of store, and store can be used interchangeably to me, but my opinions are usually just trash.
It is, indeed, a weird hill to die on.
May I suggest you put a topless mannequin in that Lesabre.
If you get hungry, just head to the other side of the 405 for some Tommy’s! Just don’t ask to sit in any of the cars afterwards. Tommy’s is fantastic- but it’s still Chili Cheeseburgers and Chili Cheese Fries
Tommy’s is great if you love your chili with extra salmonella.
Salmonella?!? Where did you hear that??
That’s an impressive list. But I’d like to see them have a section of vehicles from oddball/orphaned brands.
Brands like AC, Allard, Bricklin, Jensen, Morris, Saleen, non-Jeep Willys vehicles, Studebaker, Packard, etc
I was going to say the same! Hardly any dead brands. No Duesenbergs, Packards, Auburns, Coles, Moons, etc., etc.
Technically Plymouth, Pontiac, and Olds are dead brands. But the list shows a Packard and two Studebakers. No Deusies though.
That’s a heck of a list! A 914-6, a Miura S, multiple GTRs, ’71 VW Type III – very nice.
Please see if you can sneak the i3 into the Autopian microcar collection. 🙂
“Sex on wheels” is a trite and over-used phrase at this point, but is there any other way to describe that GT40?
Aw man, I wish. Maybe next year. Or – hear me out – maybe next year you and Beau can bring the Berkeley up to the Portland All-British Field Meet. It’d be a huge hit; I’ve never seen one there.
I came here to make fun of the ’57 Chevy at every car show, and noticed that the only one in this show is electric, so I will go and eat some humble pie now.
Nevermind. I missed the other ’57 Chevy that isn’t electric. Take that humble pie!
Yeah, and a gazillion Mustangs. B/c those were always rare.
But offsetting that is that Mk III….Ford made like, what, less than 10 of them?
I notice there is only one Jeep thus far. Will you (DT) be bringing any of your infamous fleet to increase that number?
They will have a crew with brooms and dustpans to sweep up the rust
What would DT take home????
Engine internals???
And a “holy grail” tire carrier, or other random accessory that those who are not part of the Jeep worshipping cult have never heard of.
I’d bring my ’74 but I already barely trust the Monza to get me home lmao
