On Saturday August 13, the entire Autopian staff and even a few of your favorite contributors will be hanging out at Galpin Auto Sports just north of Los Angeles. Drive your car here and get ready to geek out, because we’d love to meet you. I myself will be bringing a broken 1959 Nash, and I don’t even live in California yet, so those of you who do: no excuses!
Okay, so here are the details for the very first Autopian Car Show, which The Autopian boss Beau Boeckmann will be hosting on his property that I like to describe as automotive mecca. It’s a really special place, and you’re going to want to see it. Anyway, without further ado:
- Date: Saturday, August 13, 2022
- Time: 11 A.M. to 2 P.M.
- Place: Galpin Auto Sports parking lot — 15600 Roscoe Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91406
- Who will be in attendance:
- Jason Torchinsky
- Matt Hardigree
- Mercedes Streeter
- Beau Boeckmann
- Huibert Mees
- Thomas Hundal
- Mark Tucker
- David Tracy
- Hopefully many cool Autopian readers
- Cars that will be in attendance:
- Beau’s legendary car collection
- A broken 1959 Nash Metropolitan
- A Citroën LNA to (at least they said it’ll be there)
- Who knows? But trust us, it’s going to be good.
Come chat with Huibert and me about geeky engineering stuff, talk with Beau about the auto industry, try not to get tired of Jason chatting your ear off about taillights [Editor’s Note: If David gives us too much guff, we can sneak off to Flashing Amber’s, the Valley’s sixth-best taillight bar – JT] , learn about all the weirdest RVs and campers and buses from Mercedes, chat about miniature radio-control cars and shitboxes with Mark, and beware of getting Thomas started talking about BMW minutiae because he won’t stop.
It’s gonna be good. We’re beyond excited to meet you and your car!
It’s a bit quiet… Was it that exhausting?

Hell of a show guys. Good to meet you all!
Aaaaand, just seeing this now at 1600, would have been great!
I’m sick and can’t make it, but I would have loved to be there. Next time!
Ok, did I miss the previous announcement? Lucky I checked the site tonight!
I’ll def be there.

Oooh, I might be there. I wish I saw this sooner though. I’m going to a concert tonight and I’m probably going to be too hungover to drive the Van Nuys in the morning, but we’ll see tomorrow.
Maybe spring for a chartered Gulfstream so Kristen can attend??
Bummer. Just got back to upstate NY after spending a couple of weeks in 818.
For what it’s worth, I counted more Rivian pickups (5) than Subaru Legacy sedans (3) during my time on the freeways and surface streets of Southern California.
Rivian’s are super hot in LA rn.
I’ll actually be in town for this which is awesome. I am bugging my brother to see if he would be willing to take his Testarossa to the show.
Flashing Amber’s. I’ve heard that they make killer Tennessee Trafficators and wicked flaming Blinker Fluid punch cocktails. The stole the idea for the secret ingredient in the punch from the flaming Moe – cough syrup. Don’t forget to order the world-famous Fresnel Fries either.
Sounds like fun. Followed you two from the other site where your content was consistently strong, interesting, in depth and on point. Tom
Dang it, I’ve been waiting on a meet up closer to this part of the world, and I’m down due to an accident and can’t travel. I know this will be a grand time and hope everyone enjoys themselves, damn it.
Might I suggest something? I don’t know your reader base, but at some time in the future, now that you’ll have a West Coast presence, think of holding something in the Paso Robles area. It’s approximately halfway between the Bay and LA areas, little towns with nice open parks you can reserve for this kind of thing, and a renowned wine region. Heck you even do the coastal town of Morro Bay, cool temps, and it’s at the bottom of hwy 1 coming from Monterey, always a beautiful drive. Might could pull folks in from both bay and LA areas for a bigger meet up.
Will there be a meet up in Montgomery?
Sorry Monterey
