Tonight will be an intimate opportunity for us Autopian writers to hang out with Velour and Rich Corinthian Leather members, thanking them for their support while asking them ridiculously hard (but fun!) questions about cars. Here are the details of The Autopian’s legendary Trivia Night, October 8 edition.
The Autopian’s Trivia Nights are usually quite absurd, mostly because super-car-geeks like Jason Torchinsky and Thomas Hundal get to write the questions, but also because you, dear Autopian members, are just too smart. We have to come up with challenging questions or you’ll start snoozing! So TODAY, on October 8th, for the first time in far too long, we’re hosting another Trivia Night, and it’s going to be epic.
Being a Velour or Rich Corinthian Leather member means you get to partake in exclusive trivia nights hosted by your humble Autopian authors (if you’d like to become a member and try out trivia you can join here, if you are a Vinyl or Cloth member you can upgrade here and get $10 off). These events are held on Zoom, and they involve us breaking up participants into teams, and then asking some…interesting car questions. We then let you and your teammate(s) have a few minutes in “breakout rooms” to privately figure out the answers. We do this a few times until all questions have been asked, and then after we dish out the answers at the end, teams tally up the scores to determine a winner.
It usually takes 90 minutes or so, though, with about a dozen or so folks having signed up so far, we can expect it to go a bit quicker than our “all members” trivia nights (we’ll plan for one in December).
We also ask participants to identify cars Jason draws on an iPad or random car parts I have sitting around. It’s just a lot of fun, and there’s no shame if teams only get half the answers right; we grade on a STEEP curve. The prize for the winning team (yes, there will be PRIZES!) ain’t that great anyway, so the pressure is very much OFF.
It’s an activity Torch and I started during the pandemic, and we’re going to keep it going because we love it. So if you’re a Velour or Rich Corinthian Leather member, and you’d like to partake in the automotive geek-fest that is The Autopian’s Virtual Trivia Night on Tuesday, October 8, then please RSVP by emailing the subject “Trivia RSVP” to david@theautopian.com.
The event begins at 7:30 PM ET; a Zoom link will be sent to all Velour and RCL members at 7:25. Be there!
Hopefully it was fun for everyone! I think this may have only been the second one missed since they started on the other site. I’m kind of in the path of Milton and we were doing some other family things last night before hunkering down today and tonight.
What if I pay for Velour but still don’t get exclusive article access and haven’t heard anything back via email or comments?

(IDK if this helps, but)
We’ll take care of this! I’m very sorry!
Were we supposed to get one link or a special one for those who RSVPed?
We’ve got family visiting from out of state who we only get to see once every couple of years or so and I suspect this wouldn’t be their idea of the best use of our limited time together so I’ll have to pass.
We’re gonna lose!
I feeling. Most questions leave me saying “Soup is good food and duhhhhhhhhh”
answering Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia for every question out of spite
For clarity we only need to RSVP to compete in the trivia – but to observe we just wait for the email?
These are awesome though I don’t know enough maths to get those questions right.
Plus a night with Car Geeks that get my refences like the white Betta named Vanishing Point. Whom passed and the new one has an auto related name.
That’s our 18th wedding anniversary, so I’ll be sitting this one out. Have fun, everyone!
J/Doesn’t it suck when less important things get in the way?
You could try to convince them to participate.
Man, I’d love to be a part of this, but with the brutal exchange rate on the Canadian dollar AND the out of country extra charge, a yearly membership rivals my yearly Hagerty Insurance premium.
Best of luck to those that participate!
