UPDATE: We Just Updated The Site

1st Generation Fabia Had Three Bodywork Versions Including A Sedan
ADVERTISEMENT

As you might know, our site isn’t always the fastest to load. In order to correct this we’re updating the back-end of the site tonight. We just rolled out the first update and, eventually, it should start to load faster.

Are you having any issues? Please let us know. My guess is that it won’t immediately be faster to load as it’ll probably try to load everything again. Eventually, it should work faster. Again, please use the comment thread below to report any issues.

Vidframe Min Bottom

Please enjoy this photo of all three body styles of the original Skoda Fabia for your troubles. Thanks!

Thanks for the update on the update – all nominal as far as I can tell. Now when you guys fix the little broken bell, that will be just swell.

The site is loading quickly for me, both the main page and the articles. But I had to log back in and now I’ve got the Jazel tool bar at the top offering me options for CSS and Varnish that I don’t think I should have access to.

Took forever to get the new site to load for me. We’ll see whether or not that persists.

Me as well — seems slower now than it was before.

So far, it’s just as slow as it was before. There are worse problems in the world, but it sure seems like whatever changes they made didn’t work.

Took forever for me as well. Then I closed it and reopened it; now it’s much faster than before. Matt did mention that might happen.

I didn’t notice that I had been logged out after the update so I was seeing the video popup. If might be helpful to mention in the post ^^^ that folks should log back in.

Otherwise, the site is running well for me so far! Congrats!

I very suddenly need a 1st Gen Skoda Fabia Combi.
Perhaps next year, when we can import them….

… I also need that ’69 Cougar XR7 Convertible in the Trust and Will commercial.
I just need to know who to get me to write me into the will.

Does that mean that we can’t say mean things about dealerships anymore? They’re Jazel’s main market.

Huh there must be some issue with unicode coming from certain sources.

FWIW I’m writing from a Chromium-based browser on a mac.

When the site didn’t load, I thought: Oh no, a DoS attack from Headlight aficionados. Then I worried about Jason.

Are you having any issues?”

Well my nuts are a little itchy.

I was logged out and I logged back in and the site seems to be working fine.

But it didn’t have any impact on the itch.

Symptoms will subside in a few days. Just stay logged in.

Just do what my dogs do when there are itchy down there, drag your nether regions across any available surface, whether that is furniture, carpet, bedding etc. 😉

Or do what my dogs do which is make disgusting slurping sounds as they lick themselves until I snap and send them outside.

I seriously doubt Manwich Sandwich is limber enough to lick himself down there! 😉

Perhaps you can try Stellantis prescription strength itch creme which contains maximum strength of 2% Carloszone. It may take a long time to work but you’ll enjoy applying it to the affected areas! ヽ(͡◕ ͜ʖ ͡◕)ノ

If you’re using uBlock do this:

I’m all for a site making money, but it should be done by adding value, not by forcing people to pay to remove intentionally added irritants.

Will there ever be an option to upload pictures to a comment? Or is that giving us too much power that we will certainly misuse and cause too many issues?

I’ve got to imagine policing image uploads would be a a full time job for someone, if not multiple people. I want images for the comment section, but I also don’t want costs to go up just so I can post Archer gifs.

I definitely don’t doubt any of that. I ask because I have a picture of a random i3 I saw driving the other day that I want to share for DT to admire/vomit over. A little selfish? Sure. But also want to get his take on how the wheels sticking out over 6 inches from the body helps the fuel range! I need answers dammit!

Picture uploads are never really a sustainable idea for a site unless they have a TON of income to pay staff.

Staff to moderate content, staff to fight copyright issues when a user uploads protected content, lawyers to deal with issues if someone uploads something horribly inappropriate/illegal, staff to manage and allocate storage for all the junk people upload, staff to make sure that some clever punk doesn’t figure out how to bypass an upload filter and now loads a fun reverse shell they can use to take over the site.

While you only really see the writers on this site, I can assure you that there are plenty of people you don’t see who are working to make sure this thing works properly.

Maybe if they hit a critical mass of members they could do it, but I’d imagine a better investment of any revenue would be in hiring writers and making more content vs letting people do silly things in the comments.

I have got no doubt there are a ton of people who we don’t see that keep things running (thank you unknown folks! We appreciate you!). It was a little tongue in cheek because I know that things can/will/would get out of hand quickly if we were. I would much rather the money go to buying more crazy cars and producing great stories than to let us post dumb photos and have to deal with all the nonsense

Are we getting an update to the comments section at some point? Mainly, a way to filter by oldest/newest, in addition to most reacted and hottest thread?

I prefer to read the comments oldest first, but to do that you have to jump back several pages and then try to read threads in reverse. An extra filter would be nice.
