Matt Farah, Magnus Walker And More Featured In Epic New Porsche-Themed YouTube Series By Our Friends At Galpin

The Autopian’s sister-company, Galpin, has a media arm that does so much more than just advertising. It’s helmed by some seriously talented video producers/editors/on-air talent, and its latest project — My Porsche Story — is just a tiny hint of the potential that team has when it comes to video production. Let’s talk about it.

If you were following The Autopian’s Instagram account closely in August, then you probably saw this.

Chris, video production top-dog at Galpin, ran an incredible film shoot that involved Jason, Beau and me comparing the 2004 Shelby Cobra Concept (Daisy) against a Gen III Viper and C6 Corvette. The resulting video, I have no doubt, is going to be awesome:

Having been part of that shoot, I’m not at all surprised by how polished and high-quality “My Porsche Story” looks:

My Porsche Story is more of a Galpin production, whereas the Daisy/Viper Corvette thing was more of an Autopian production, but we share resources on the shooting/editing/producing/directing side of things, and given that “My Porsche Story” features some of the coolest people in car culture, I figured I’d tell you all about it.

A bit of background: Galpin has a Porsche store called Porsche Santa Clarita. Beau, being a car nut, isn’t the kind of car exec/salesperson who just sets up a dealership and puts out ads — no, he is a car geek who goes hard. The dealership, for example, has a freakin’ Porsche museum called the “Wunderground” in its basement:

There’s even a website that describes what the cars are/why they matter:

Plus, Porsche Santa Clarita has one of the biggest Cars & Coffees in all of LA the first Sunday of every month:

Anyway, you get it: It’s a Porsche dealership, yes, but it’s also run by actually Porsche nerds, with David O (a real car dude) as the dealership’s social media guru. That’s why we all went to Rennsport Reunion, that’s why we’re going to Luftgekuehlt 10, and that’s why “My Porsche Story” is a thing you can look forward to on Sunday at Porsche Santa Clarita, and shortly thereafter here on The Autopian (we’re embedding it from the Galpin Motors YouTube page, where a new video will launch every two weeks). It’s not an ad, it’s just a passion project by Porsche folks who happen to be in the car-sales business.

Anyway, obviously we’re affiliated with Galpin/I have an office there, so I’m not going to not tell you about the company’s Porsche video series involving fellow car-journalist Matt Farah, clothing designer-turned-Porsche-icon Magnus Walker, the Ultimate Car Guy Bruce Meyer, the cofounder of Good Vibes Breakfast Club J Ryan, and more. Here’s a draft of the press release, if you’re interested:

Matt Farah, Magnus Walker And More Featured In ‘My Porsche Story,’

Galpin Motors’ YouTube Series Premiering This October

The new bi-weekly video series highlights some of the world’s most influential Porsche enthusiasts.

Galpin Motors  is premiering its new digital series, “My Porsche Story,” at the official post-Luftgekühlt brunch on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Porsche Santa Clarita. The captivating video series will feature inspirational stories from some of the most influential figures in the Porsche community, including Magnus Walker, Matt Farah, J Ryan and Bruce Meyer.

“My Porsche Story” celebrates the passion and dedication of Porsche enthusiasts, showcasing their unique journeys and connections to the iconic brand. Episodes will be released bi-weekly, offering viewers an intimate look at how Porsches can change lives in sometimes unconventional ways.

Fashion designer-turned-Porsche legend Magnus Walker tells the tale of the search for his “dream car,” a first-model-year 930 Turbo. The story of how he found a 1975 Porsche 930 rolling chassis and later serendipitously ended up with its original engine is truly fascinating. Similarly fascinating is Matt Farah’s story about how his Porsche 718 Spyder sank to the bottom of the ocean, and how the replacement car that went to DeMan Motorsport for a heart transplant ended up, in Farah’s eyes, as “The Ultimate Porsche.” Then there’s J Ryan, cofounder of LA’s hallowed “Good Vibes Breakfast Club” weekly pilgrimage along Angeles Crest Highway. The beautiful way Ryan recounts sharing a Porsche 997 911S with his late wife Nicole as they cruised to Newcomb’s Ranch every Friday is an incredible tribute to her and to what has become one of LA’s most treasured institutions.

The first three episodes — which feature Walker, Farah and Ryan — will debut at a public launch party that doubles as the official post-Luftgekühlt brunch, to be held at Porsche Santa Clarita on Sunday, Oct. 6. The Cars & Coffee event, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon that same day, will have brunch available for purchase.

“We are beyond excited to debut this project,” said Beau Boeckmann, president and CEO of Galpin Motors. “We had such a great experience working on ‘Pimp My Ride’ and ‘Car Kings,’ but this is the first time we’ve done our own production and launched a series. All of us can’t wait to share these incredible stories with car lovers around the world.”

Check out the preview of “My Porsche Story” on the Galpin Motors YouTube channel and subscribe to see the latest episodes as they debut. For more information on the post-Luftgekühlt brunch or the “My Porsche Story” screening (be the first to see the first three episodes, in person!), follow Porsche Santa Clarita on Instagram and Facebook.

I actually helped write that press release, though I’m unsure if that’s the one Galpin used. In any case, watch that trailer! And then keep an eye on Galpin Motors’ YouTube page, because “My Porsche Story’ is going to be cool, especially if you’re a Porsche geek.

This is great, awesome to see solid content. I have to say…for ‘Porsche Stories’ it would be so great to see NEW Porsche stories. Magnus, Matt Farah and Bruce Myers have been done to death. I like those guys…but they have dozens of videos on their cars, story, etc. There have to be others out there with compelling stories…

Went to this on Sunday. Great production work all around. The Good Vibes Breakfast Club was both incredibly sad and uplifting.

The Santa Clarita Porsche shop is truly second to none. Just an amazing place and a natural location for an epic cars and coffee.

Also, I got to meet Dave and Beau at Luft on Saturday. These are real car guys, through and through. The stuff Galpin is doing with their Porsche resto work is truly a sight to behold. Keep up the good work boys!

Genuinely, you could do some pretty damn unashamed advertisement content and I’d be stoked. Like… my favourite people on the internet just having tbe times of their lives at freaking Galpin. Getting the run of the place, so to speak. And then transmitting that joy to my eyeballs!! What a treat. Just make sure Torch is there and no one could complain

It was kinda mean of Beau, Jason and the film crew to let you do that Willow Springs shoot with ugly grease smears on your chin and upper lip. I hope you got them back.

Imagine each of your local car dealerships having a restaurant based on the manufacturer’s country of origin. Lexus sushi? Probably better than Nissan sushi. Alfa Romeo pizza & pasta? If we include country of manufacture, then VW can offer Mexican food. I wonder if our independent SAAB mechanic would microwave me some IKEA Swedish meatballs?

I’m watching that short clip about the Germany-inspired restaurant trying to figure out the German part of it. The food it is not, that’s for certain. We do like to serve our food on plates. Maybe that’s the inspirational part.

We’re big on that here in the states, saying stuff is “inspired by” something. Which can often be code for “you’re not going to verify it, but doesn’t it sound newer & better than ‘the usual stuff you know?'” For better or worse, it’s one of our best things.

It’s Galpin Ford Fusion cuisine that incorporates a bit of tout le Mondeo.

is that the “outlaw porsche” guy? remember when I saw that on Jalopnik and just hearing the term made me cringe so hard. good for him for fleecing those rich gen-Xers from Orange County out of their inheritance though I guess

Me: 911s are so played out these days, they really are not worth the money

Also Me: I daily drive a 70s 911 and wouldn’t trade it for the world

PS: If you want one, look into mid years (74-77) with the infamous 2.7. 2.7 is a great engine, but it was coupled with dumbest solution to reducing emissions; a restrictive, heavy, cast iron exhaust called “thermal reactors” that got REAL warm, trying to burn up the emissions to make it run cleaner. What it actually did was super-heat the exhaust studs, which then pulled out of the magnesium case, which required an expensive rebuild. By now, almost all of the 74-77 cars have a normal exhaust, so it’s not really an issue, and most of them that were rebuilt have case savers (helicoils) installed in the case to prevent it from happening again. Sure, you can pay way more and get 78+ 3.0, or an SC, but…. I’m just saying, the 74-77s tend to be bargains for effectively the same car.

Does the German restaurant do delivery or takeout?
Have you eaten there?
If so what’s your favorite order?
